The Center for Healthy Weight and Wellness, within the Department of Psychiatry at Washington University School of Medicine, is directed by Denise E. Wilfley, PhD.
The Center for Healthy Weight and Wellness specializes in a diverse array of clinical and behavioral research. Our research efforts focus on the causes, characterization, prevention and treatment of obesity and eating disorders in a wide range of patient populations, as well as on improving access to care.
Overarching research objectives include:
- investigating the role of familial and social factors in the etiology
prevention and treatment of weight and eating disorders - utilizing principles of basic behavioral science to inform obesity and eating disorders research
- determining intervention strategies aimed at preventing comorbidity, relapse and disability in obesity and eating disorders
- developing and examining efficient training and delivery methods for the implementation of evidence-based interventions for obesity and eating disorders in primary health care settings
